Eileen M. Rivard, 95, Rice Lake, Wis., died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Rice Lake Convalescent Center.

She was born Oct. 16, 1915, at Somerset to Amable and Katheryn (Harrington) Parent. Eileen lived and attended school in Somerset. After completing normal school training, she taught at Riverdale Rural School for 2 years.

On June 9, 1936, she married Wilfred Rivard at St. Anne's Church, Somerset. The couple lived in Somerset, New Richmond and later in Rice Lake, where they owned and operated Rivard's Dairy Bar for many years.

Eileen loved to sew. She was involved in many organizations: Altar and Rosary Society, Charity Group, Legion of Mary, Women of the Moose and she volunteered in many areas as the need would arise. She was awarded the Pax Christi Medal by the Superior Diocese in 1976 and was a lay associate of the Servites (Servants of Mary).

Together Eileen and Wilfred raised seven children.

Surviving are daughters Karin (Ron) Posdal, Sharlene (Richard) Stoll, Joyce (Del) Tritt and Denice (Jeff) Healy; sons Arlen (Jill) and Roger (Berni); a daughter-in-law Betsy Rivard; siblings Camilla (Wesley) Langness, LaVerne (Raymond) Mealey and Harris (Marlene) Parent, all of Somerset; many grand and great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Loren, her parents and several brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, from St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rice Lake, with Father Jim Powers officiating and burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Posdal, Ritchie Rivard, Brian Stoll, Kevin Rivard, Ben Rivard, Nathan Tritt and Greg Healy.

Visitation was held 4-7 p.m. Monday from Skinner Funeral Home, Rice Lake, with a Women of the Moose service at 7 followed by a scripture service and rosary. Visitation was also held an hour prior to services at church.
