Gabreial Loring Yocum, 42, Springfield, Mo., formerly of Villa Grove, Ill., and Prairie Farm, Wis., went home to heaven Monday, March 11, 2013, at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
Gabe was born Nov. 21, 1970, at Champaign, Ill., to Susan and Gary Yocum. Gabe graduated from Villa Grove High School and attended two years at the community college in Champaign. Gabe worked as a meat salesman until he was injured in a car accident and was disabled.
Gabe loved hunting, fishing and hunting for mushrooms. He spent many hours passing these skills on to his son Brandon.
Gabe loved people; he loved being around them and making them laugh. He especially looked for those who were hurting and broken, cheering them up by making them laugh and sharing his love for Jesus. He also enjoyed needling and teasing his beloved brother Michael.
Surviving are his son Brandon of Sierra Gordo, Ill.; a daughter Sierra of Lathrup, Mo.; his mother and father Susan and Robert Hutchison of Prairie Farm; his brother Michael Walter Yocum, with his wife Bobbie and son Blade, of Arlington, Minn.; a sister Peggy (Dennis) Robinson of Dallas; a brother Paul (Melanie) Hutchison of Hillsdale; a sister Pam (Jeff) French of Barron; a sister Patty (Mike) Gallaty of Barron; a sister Prudi Glaiser of Prairie Farm; as well as uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.
Gabreial was preceded in death by his father Gary.
A memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, from the Ridgeland Community Center, 200 Diamond St., with Pastor Brain Weaver of Living Hope Church officiating.
Burial will be held at Murdock Cemetery, Murdock, Ill.
