Mary B. Yousten, 78, Comstock, Wis., died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Island City Assisted Living in Cumberland.
She was born July 11, 1934, at Cumberland to Theodore and Regina (Hellman) Blume. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1952 and then UW-Superior with a degree in medical technology.
Mary worked for many hospitals, including Lakeview Medical Center as lab supervisor. After her medical career, Mary started the quality control lab at the Crystal Lake Cheese Factory. She later worked for Jerome Foods for many years until her retirement.
She was an excellent athlete, an avid golfer, alpine skier, water ski “instructor” and loved watching wrestling. Mary enjoyed travel, seeing 46 of the 50 states in the union.
She married Arthur Yousten in Cumberland on Nov. 23, 1968. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2000. Mary was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Donald Blume, and two sisters, Delores Zappitello and Betty Blume.
Surviving are sons Steve of Portland, Ore., and Tom (Shannon Ries and family) of Cumberland; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and her choir family.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Almena, with Father David Lusson officiating and burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Almena.
Pallbearers were Kitty Anderson, Deb Kuhrt, Peg Krueger, Paul Zappitello, Bob Zappitello and Chris Holman.
Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland, served the family.
