Richard A. Demers, 72, Cameron, Wis., died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at his home.
He was born July 31, 1939, to Edward and Bernice (Secore) Demers at Rice Lake, where he was raised and attended school. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1957. He then enlisted with the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Midway from 1957-1960.
On June 22, 1968, he married Judith Gilles at Rice Lake. Richard managed the Lampert stores at Rice Lake, Cameron and Chetek for about 20 years and then went to work at Mastercraft, Rice Lake, for about 18 years, retiring in 2001.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid bowler. He also enjoyed working outside and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife Judith; a son Aaron (Misty) of Burlington; a daughter Amber Demers of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren Alexis Osheim and Faith and Conner Demers; sisters Ella (Steve) Ruetten of Sparta, Elaine (John) Sundby of Colfax and Cheryl (Alan) Gabriel of Rice Lake; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harvey and DeWayne.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, from St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Cameron. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Rice Lake, with military honors accorded by Eubanks-Arneson American Legion Post 87 of Rice Lake.
Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Wednesday from Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home, Cameron, and an hour prior to services at the church.
