Maurice H. Kurschner, 86, joyfully went to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017.

He was born Nov. 14, 1931, at Prairie Farm, Wis., and grew up in the Barron area, graduating from Barron High School in 1948.

He attended Northwestern College, Minneapolis, Minn., while also working at a silver-plating business, where he later became manager. He also worked for Kreuger Co., Green Bay, for many years.

Maury's goal in life was to serve his Lord Jesus first, his adored wife Nancy second, and to minister to everyone he met. He played the organ for First Baptist Church of Sturgeon Bay as often as he was able.

He loved to read and study scripture, often spending hours doing so every day. When he retired, he decided to brush up on his Greek to enable him to dig even deeper into the New Testament.

His days were full, enjoying Nancy's great cooking, studying, enjoying his children and grandchildren, and watching the antics of his neurotic dog Dexter.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years Nancy (Gehrke) Kurschner; children Deborah (Darrell) Denson, Douglas (Lois), Danelle (Caleb) McCoy, Marshal (Lorrie), Kimberlee (William) Czaja and Kara (Craig) Spofford; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Marjorie Kurschner, Mary Sterzbach and Marlene (Larry) Fornell; a sister-in-law Gloria Kurschner; and a brother Allan (Judy) Kurschner.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Bergliot (Aaen) Kurschner, an older brother Byron and an infant sister Lorraine Kurschner.

Memorial services were held at First Baptist Church, Sturgeon Bay, on Saturday, Nov. 25.
