Three held in murder investigation

Posted: Thursday, March 13, 2014 12:36 pm

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald announced today, March 13, that three people were arrested Wednesday, March 12, in connection with the shooting death of Daniel Raven, a  33-year-old Town of Clinton resident, early Monday, March 10.

Fitzgerald identified the suspects as 34-year-old Ian John Skjerly, 1809 22nd St., Rice Lake, 29-year-old Trista Marie Hrabak, also of 1809 22nd St., and 37-year-old Robert Bruce McBain, 605 W. Main St., Cameron.

The sheriff said Raven was killed with "a rifle-type weapon" at his home at 1718 10 1/2 St., north and east of Poskin. But he declined further comment because the investigation is ongoing.

All three suspects are now being held in the Barron County Jail on charges of being party to the crime of first-degree homicide, Fitzgerald said at a Thursday morning press conference.

Formal charges will be announced Monday, March 17, by the county District Attorney's Office, he said.

The sheriff thanked members of his own department, the Barron County Medical Examiner's office, and the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation, for what he said were "countless hours of work" that led to the arrests.
