Bloomer man gets 4 years for 9th drunk driving offense

A Bloomer man was sentenced Tuesday, Nov. 28 to four years in prison followed by four years of extended supervision after being charged with his ninth OWI. 

Matthew O. Nelson, 59, was sentenced in Rusk County Circuit Court for driving while intoxicated on May 4. During that stop, the deputy found an open box of beer and loose beer cans in the vehicle. Nelson failed the field sobriety and preliminary breath tests. The Wisconsin State Crime Lab conducted an analysis of Nelson’s blood and found an alcohol content of .146.
