Rice Lake resident Chad Thompson has been named the new executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Barron County.
Thompson succeeds former executive director Deanna Aubart.
Based in Cumberland, Boys & Girls Clubs of Barron County offers programs in three Barron County communities.
In the Barron Area School District, the club serves more than 40 Riverview Middle School students. The after-school program runs from 3:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Participating children receive a meal and participate in educational classes, homework, character and citizenship building exercises, community service work, and other programs.
A lifelong resident of the county, Thompson has served on the Rice Lake Police Department for 25 years, most recently as an investigator.
Thompson said he will definitely miss aspects of his past career - especially contact with fellow employees, those of other agencies, and area organizations.
“I have dedicated my life to community service work and I look forward to continuing that work as I make a positive difference in the lives of area youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Barron County,” he said.
Thompson said he hopes to build upon the strong foundation already built by Aubart, the Board of Directors, employees, and past employees.
