Work begins on bridge near Cameron

Traffic was reduced to a single lane Monday, April 26, 2021, on this heavily-traveled portion of County Hwy. W, near Cameron, as work began on a bridge over the Red Cedar River. This photo was taken from the Pioneer Village Museum (see sign at far right), not far from the bridge. According to County Highway Commissioner Mark Servi, the work will go on for the next two to four weeks, depending on the extent of concrete repairs that are needed. On Tuesday, April 27, Servi added that after repairs to the road surface and the edge of the bridge decks, an epoxy overlay will be replaced later this summer. The Barron County Highway Department is responsible for traffic control over the bridge. Larson Construction, of Chippewa Falls, has been contracted to do the repair work. Photo by Bob Zientara
