Raffle King honored

Allen Klingelhoets of Barron is the first Barron resident to receive the Outstanding Community Service Award. The award is sponsored by the Barron Public Library and Friends of the Library and was presented last Friday evening at the Barron Senior Citizens Center. Klingelhoets was recognized for his decades-long campaign of selling raffle tickets numbering in the thousands for worthwhile organizations. Pictured above, from left, are Barron Mayor Ron Fladten, Allen Klingelhoets and Library Director and Master of Ceremonies for the evening, Lisa Kuebli. Klingelhoets was presented with a plaque, a glass star paperweight, 250 Barron Chamber Dollars, and a laptop computer, compliments of the Barron Library and Friends of the Library. Allen also received free Internet service for a year from Mosaic. The award’s ceremony was preceded by light snacks and beverages and was attended by well-wishers and friends.         Photo by Jim Bell
