The Ladysmith Fire Department is called to a house fire on Tuesday afternoon in the city. Firefighters were dispatched at 12:37 p.m., Jan. 24 to the fire at a rental property at 114 E. Ninth St. N in Ladysmith. Occupants of the home were able to get out of the home. The Ladysmith Police Department and Rusk County Ambulance Service also responded. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, according to Fire Chief Kyle Gibbs. Extensive smoke and water damage to the bedroom of the house was reported. There were no injuries.. Ladysmith Fire Department Assistant Chief Shane Bishop helps rescue a cat.
