Bridge deck poured over Sumner creek

Work is approaching completion on a new bridge over German Creek on Barron County Hwy. M, about 200 feet south of U.S. Hwy. 8, in the town of Sumner. According to County Highway Commissioner Mark Servi, the new deck was poured Tuesday, May 4. The concrete deck was covered and setting up when the above photo was taken Friday, May 7. After a private contractor completes the bridge railings, county work crews will install the beam guard and pave the bridge approaches, he added. The goal is to reopen the bridge by Memorial Day, Servi said. Hwy. M is the primary north-south access for the east shores of Prairie and Chetek lakes, and carries about 1,200 vehicles per day, he added. Photo by Bob Zientara
