They include, front row, from left, Najma Ahmed , Emma Knutson, Warda Garad, Kamal Mahamud, Tristan Massie, Esther Mashak and Tara Glaser. Back row, Kesha Palmquist and Kaylee Johnson. For example, Palmquist “has given many hours organizing and completing the band library.” Yusuf “works hard in school while balancing a fulltime job, (and is a) great influence on her peers.” Johnson “is helpful to her classmates as well as (her teacher). She is diligent in her own work while also helping others.” Garad tutors youngsters at Woodland Elementary School. Massie helped a wheelchair-bound student who couldn’t reach a button because of a snowbank, then shoveled the snow away.
