Edwin “Ed” R. Cox, 81, Barron, Wis., died Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at Marshfield Medical Center, Eau Claire.
Ed was born Aug. 7, 1937, at Monroe to Russell and Audrey (Perdue) Cox. After graduating from Freeport (Ill.) High School, he joined the Army in 1956. He enjoyed being stationed as a radio operator just outside of Paris, France, and had many fond memories of his time spent there.

After many adventures throughout Wisconsin and four children later, they settled in Barron. As a master educator, even in retirement, Ed enjoyed substitute teaching throughout Barron County because of his love for children.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son Nathan (Jennifer) of Barron; daughters Heather (Mike) Hentz of Eau Claire, Megan (Dennis) Goldwood of Ash Flat, Ark., and Jodie (Brody) Dantzman of Barron; grandchildren Alex, Jennica, Julia, Kayla, Jared, Ernie, Kaprincia, Samantha, Emily, Kayleah, Gavin and Sophia; brothers James (Erika) Cox of Spokane, Wash., Butch (Marla) Pommerening and David (Melanie) Pommerening, both of Freeport, Ill.; sisters Donna (Jerry) Malloy of Channelview, Texas, Sally (Delbert) Bunker and Sue Pommerening, both Freeport, Ill.; in addition to many nieces and nephews.
