A Rice Lake resident who became upset with an evident fraudulent caller got more than she bargained for when the caller allegedly threatened to mail her a bomb, according to Barron County dispatch records.
The incident was reported Monday afternoon, June 10, 2019.
A woman called 911 from a home located in the 700 block of South Wisconsin Avenue, to report that she is a caretaker for an elderly client, who got a phone call that was an evident scam.
The client took the call, but the caretaker soon got on the phone to talk with the scammer. She said the caller “became irate, and stated they were a terrorist, and were going to mail them a bomb.”
The Rice Lake caller gave police the phone number from which the threatening call was made. It turned out to be from Jamaica, dispatchers said.
