Barron truck-train crash remains under investigation

Traffic was rerouted off 18th Street in Barron from 3 a.m. until almost noontime Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, after a semi-trailer truck loaded with soybeans was struck by an eastbound train on the Canadian National Railway track. The collision damaged the back half of the trailer, but not the truck cab, and there were no apparent injuries according to information from county dispatchers and the Barron Police Department. Additional equipment was brought to the scene to retrieve spilled grain. The accident remains under investigation by the CN and the state of Wisconsin. Photo by Bob Zientara
