Two hurt in Almena crash

A Watertown, S.D. driver suffered a non-life-threatening injury when this vehicle was rear-ended and overturned in the ditch on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, in a crash on U.S. Hwy. 8 near Seventh Street, about one mile east of the village of Almena in the town of Clinton, according to the Barron County Sheriff’s Department. The accident report said that a car driven by 22-year-old Treva Driver, of Watertown, S.D., was going west on Hwy. 8 when she slowed down to wait for a vehicle in front of her to make a left turn into a driveway on the south side of the highway. Driver’s vehicle was then struck from behind by a car driven by Tyler Kindschy, 26, of Turtle Lake. The vehicle making the turn on Hwy. 8 was undamaged. Driver and a passenger, Tamara Bearhart, 15, also of Watertown, S.D., were taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System-Northland, Barron, for treatment of unspecified injuries. Kindschy suffered no apparent injury, the Sheriff’s Department reported. He was cited for following a vehicle too closely.
