Wardens seize poached bucks in northern Dunn County

Trophy bucks were recently seized by Dunn County authorities on property in northern Dunn County, reportedly owned by Prairie Farm area residents, according to information provided by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The alleged offender’s crossbow and pickup truck were also confiscated, according to Rick E. Rosen, regional warden supervisor for Dunn and other western Wisconsin counties. On Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, Rosen declined to name the defendant in the case, saying the investigation remains open. He said the suspect is a repeat offender. Appearing in the photo are, from left, Conservation Warden Supervisor Mike Melgaard, Spooner office, and wardens Jaime McDermid, Isaac Kruse, JJ Redemann, and Kyle Kosin. Melgaard said the bucks shown in the photo are believed to have been illegally killed during fall 2019 in Dunn County, and were seized during the nine-day gun deer season. Photo contributed
