A man from Somerset, Wis., who is already serving a lengthy jail term for several felony offenses in St. Croix County, was sentenced Wednesday, March 8, 2023, on an unrelated felony drunk driving charge filed more than a year ago in Barron County Circuit Court.
Ethan C. Martin, 31, pleaded guilty Jan. 6 to a charge of drunk driving, fifth offense, in connection with a November 2021 arrest in Turtle Lake, after he allegedly scrambled into the back seat of the car he was driving before the arresting officer walked up.
Court records said Martin was sentenced last December to 270 days in the St. Croix County Jail and was fined more than $1,800 in connection with four felony offenses in that county.
During the March 8 hearing at Barron, the court imposed but stayed a two-year term in prison in connection with Martin’s fifth OWI conviction. Martin risks imprisonment if he violates terms of probation imposed at the March 8 hearing, court documents added.
The sentence also includes a lifetime revocation of his driver’s license and a $600 fine.
