A Cumberland woman who had been wanted on an outstanding bench warrant since last July is in jail on $1,500 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court today, Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, to face felony drug charges in Barron County Circuit Court.
The defendant, Susie L. Merrill, 26, 2582 2 5/8 St., Cumberland, had been wanted in Wisconsin and adjoining states since she failed to show up for a court appearance on July 19, 2022, court records said.
A new complaint filed Jan. 18, 2023, charges the defendant with felony meth and narcotics possession and one count of felony bail jumping, court records said.
A complaint filed in March 2021 said Merrill was one of two defendants arrested after a traffic stop in Rice Lake. The arresting officer said he stopped the vehicle in which Merrill was a passenger because it had a loud exhaust and a plastic rear windshield instead of glass.
The officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. The defendant, who was a passenger, was allegedly found in possession of crystal methamphetamine and marijuana, the complaint added.
