A woman from Chetek is in jail awaiting sentencing on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, in connection with a felony methamphetamine distribution charge, Barron County Circuit Court documents said.
Brittany A. Turgeson, 39, who lived in rural Chetek when she was arrested in September 2021, could face up to 25 years in prison when she is sentenced.
A criminal complaint said Turgeson was found hiding in the attic of a home in the 2500 block of 8 ¼ Avenue, Chetek, when officers executed a search warrant there on Sept. 3, 2021.
During a later search of the attic, officers found a zipper pouch that contained what later tests showed was nearly 22 grams of methamphetamine.
Last November, Turgeson pleaded guilty to the meth distribution charge in exchange for dismissal of four other charges, court records said.
During a Jan. 10, 2023, hearing, Tuergeson and her attorney were told to go through a presentence investigation prior to sentencing.
